2000 U.S. Nationals of Style & Accuracy

Orange, MA

Thursday, June 8

Monday = Clouds. Two rounds of accuracy.
Tuesday = Rain. No jumping.
Wednesday = Wind. One round of style.
Thursday = Fog.

Well okay, the fog burned off by 9:30, but that was just long enough for everyone to drink an extra cup of coffee and actually talk about whether we can finish this meet.

Once the planes got going though, we punched through round 4 of style before a wind hold put the brakes on at 3:00 p.m.

In men's style, there's only 0.59 seconds separating first and third place (two Knights sandwiched around Jimmy Hayhurst) after four rounds. What a race! In women's style, it's another hot race between defending style champion Elisa Feldt and mega-veteran Cheryl Stearns, who trails by half a second after four rounds.

Brian Smith is the men's style leader; he's turned a couple of sets in the high 5's. Jimmy Hayhurst has been a tiny notch slower but a tiny notch cleaner.

First call tomorrow will probably be accuracy, let's hope for decent weather!
